Orelhão, which is Portuguese for “big ear,”
is the invention for the Brazil’s phone booths,
by the architect and designer Chu Ming Silveira.
Chu drew her inspiration from the
shape of an egg, which provides excellent
acoustics and has a pleasing natural form.
Today is one of the most important design
icons in Brazil.
And by the year of 2017, Chu Ming was honored
by Google Doodle, on her 76th birthday.
U.I.WD. was commissioned to design and
develop Chu Ming's website and pay tribute
to this important design icon in Brazil.
